Teaching —
Music Instruction

I touch the future. I teach.

Cynthia in Scotland, without any musical instruments

Christa’s words touch my heart. Of all the musical things I love to do, whether it be practicing, arranging, researching, writing...the thing that I love most of all, that gives me a feeling that I am doing what I was meant to do with my life, is teaching.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in learning more about music.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. Highland Circle Music is my private studio in the State of Maryland, which I first opened in 1990 and raised to full–time in March of 1999. In the Spring of 2013, the Montgomery County Music Teachers Association (MCMTA), a chapter of the Music Teachers National Association, elected me to be their President, after serving as Vice President for Publications and editor of the newsletter for ten years. Two years later MCMTA's members elected me to a second term as President. By attending the monthly meetings of this organization, I avail myself of the instructors we engage for our special presentations, thus continuing my own music education. Though I may be a performer on the harp, teaching both piano and wire strung harp are very important to me.

I offer private lessons in both instruments as well as giving workshop presentations and group classes for the harp and music in general. My articles and videos, some of which you may link to from various interest areas of this website, also provide instruction and encouragement.
