Authentic Early-Music Sound
Auld Lang Syne is the tune we worked with in the Saturday class. The first version the accompaniment honors the mode of the tune. The second version treats it as if it were written in a modern key-signature.
Kimono Silk An alternate tune, also in two arrangements, for the class participants to try at home after the festival. By choosing to use only the notes present in the melody, the original flavor of the tune is preserved.
Mode Comparison in a Phrase A single line of the tune The Campbell's Are Coming) demonstrates what happens when the mode is changed.
